These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website www.rptpalumni.org.in (“the Website”) and the services, membership, directory, events and activities of the RPTP Alumni Association (“the Association”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the alumni body of C.V.M. Higher Secondary Education Complex (Science Stream), R.P.T.P. Science College Building, Vallabh Vidyanagar, District Anand, Gujarat.
By accessing the Website, registering as an alumnus, or participating in any Association activity, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website or our services.

1. Definitions
- “Association” means the RPTP Alumni Association, together with its managing committee, office bearers, members and authorised volunteers.
- “Institution” means C.V.M. Higher Secondary Education Complex (Science Stream), R.P.T.P. Science College Building, Vallabh Vidyanagar.
- “Member” means a person whose application for alumni membership has been accepted by the Association.
- “User”, “you” means any person who accesses or uses the Website.
- “Content” means text, images, photographs, videos, logos, documents, data and other material available on or submitted to the Website.
2. Eligibility and membership
- Membership of the Association is open to former students of the Institution, and to such other categories of persons (including former and serving faculty) as the managing committee may admit, in accordance with the constitution, bye-laws and resolutions of the Association.
- To register on the Website you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.
- Every application for membership is subject to verification of the applicant’s association with the Institution. The Association reserves the right, at its sole discretion and without assigning a reason, to accept, defer or reject any application.
- Membership is personal to the Member. It is not transferable, assignable or heritable, and it confers no proprietary right in the assets of the Association.
- These Terms are supplementary to the constitution and bye-laws of the Association. In the event of a conflict, the constitution and bye-laws, and the decisions of the managing committee, will prevail on matters of membership and governance.
3. Registration and accuracy of information
- You agree to provide information that is true, accurate, current and complete, and to keep your details updated, particularly your email address, mobile number and postal address.
- You must not impersonate any person, misstate your batch or academic details, or register on behalf of another person without that person’s authority.
- Where login credentials are issued to you, you are responsible for keeping them confidential and for all activity carried out under them. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
- Providing false particulars is a ground for rejection or cancellation of membership, and may attract consequences under applicable law.
4. Membership fees, donations and receipts
- Membership fees, life-membership subscriptions and donations are received offline — by cash at the Association office, by cheque or demand draft drawn in favour of the Association, or by direct transfer to the Association’s bank account as notified by the managing committee.
- The amount and category of membership fees are fixed by the managing committee and may be revised from time to time. A revision does not affect a subscription already paid for the applicable period.
- Membership takes effect only upon realisation of the fee and acceptance of the application by the Association.
- An official receipt will be issued for every contribution received. Please retain it; a duplicate is issued only at the discretion of the Association.
- Contributions are voluntary and non-refundable. Membership fees and donations, once accepted, are not refundable, transferable or exchangeable, except where an amount has been collected in error, in which case a written request must be made within thirty (30) days of payment and the decision of the managing committee will be final.
- Donations are applied to the objects of the Association. Where a donor specifies a purpose and that purpose becomes impracticable, the Association may apply the amount to a comparable purpose.
- Any statement regarding tax exemption on donations is subject to the registrations then held by the Association and to the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961. Donors should verify the current position with the Association before claiming any deduction.
5. Acceptable use of the Website
While using the Website or any Association service, you must not:
- post, transmit or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, invasive of privacy, or that promotes enmity between groups;
- infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights of any person;
- use the Website for advertising, marketing, bulk messaging, multi-level marketing, political campaigning, religious propagation, or any commercial or fund-raising activity not authorised by the Association;
- upload viruses, malicious code, or any material designed to interrupt, damage or limit the functioning of the Website or any server;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, its server, databases, or any account of another user;
- use robots, spiders, scrapers or other automated means to extract data from the Website;
- impersonate the Association, the Institution, or any office bearer, or falsely state or imply an affiliation or endorsement; or
- do anything that is unlawful or that brings the Association or the Institution into disrepute.
6. Use of the alumni directory
- Any alumni list, directory or contact information made available by the Association is provided strictly for personal, non-commercial contact between alumni.
- You must not copy, download, publish, distribute or sell directory data, nor use it for marketing, recruitment advertising, bulk email or SMS, telemarketing, political or religious solicitation, or to create any competing or derivative database.
- You must respect a fellow Member’s request not to be contacted.
- Misuse of directory data is a serious breach of these Terms and may lead to immediate cancellation of membership and to civil or criminal proceedings.
7. User-submitted content
- You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Association, such as your profile details, photographs, articles, achievements and reminiscences.
- By submitting content, you grant the Association a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit for length and clarity, publish and display that content on the Website, in newsletters, souvenirs, reports and on the Association’s official social media pages, for purposes connected with the objects of the Association.
- You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to the content you submit, and that its publication will not infringe the rights of any third party.
- The Association does not undertake to publish any submitted content, and may edit, decline or remove any content at its discretion without assigning a reason.
- Views expressed in user-submitted content are those of the author and not of the Association or the Institution.
8. Photographs, video and media consent
Photographs and video recordings are commonly taken at Association events. By attending an event you consent to being photographed or recorded, and to the publication of such material in the photo gallery, in newsletters and souvenirs, and on the Association’s official social media pages, without any claim to remuneration. If you do not wish a particular photograph of yourself to be published, please inform the organisers at the event or write to us, and we will remove it from channels under our control as soon as reasonably possible.
9. Events and programmes
- Participation in reunions, lectures, seminars, felicitations, tours and other programmes is subject to the specific terms, eligibility criteria and registration procedure notified for that event.
- The Association may change the date, venue, programme, speakers or format of an event, or cancel or postpone it, for reasons including insufficient participation, force majeure or directions of a public authority. We will endeavour to inform registered participants promptly.
- Where a participation fee has been collected for an event that the Association cancels, the treatment of that amount (refund, adjustment against a future event, or application to Association funds) will be decided by the managing committee and notified to participants.
- The Association is not responsible for a participant’s travel, accommodation or incidental expenses, or for any loss arising from a change or cancellation.
- Participants must observe the rules of the venue and the instructions of the organisers, and are responsible for their own safety and belongings.
10. Intellectual property
The Website and its Content — including the name, logo, emblem, design, layout, text, graphics, photographs and compilations — are the property of the Association or of the Institution, or are used under licence, and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. You may view, download and print Content for personal, non-commercial reference. Any other use — including reproduction, modification, distribution, republication, framing or use of the Association’s name or logo — requires our prior written permission.
If you believe that material on the Website infringes your rights, please write to us with details of the material and of your claim, and we will examine the matter and take appropriate action.
11. Third-party links and services
The Website contains links to third-party websites and embedded services, including social media pages and map services. These are provided for convenience only. We do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for the content, products, services, availability or practices of any third party, and your dealings with them are entirely at your own risk and subject to their terms.
12. Availability and accuracy of the Website
We endeavour to keep the Website available and its information current, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Website may be unavailable during maintenance or because of causes beyond our control. Information such as event dates, notices and downloadable documents may change; you should confirm important details with the Association office before acting on them.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
The Website and all services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. The Association does not warrant that the Website is free of viruses or other harmful components, or that any defect will be corrected. Any networking, mentorship, placement or referral facilitated through the Association is provided on a best-effort, goodwill basis; the Association does not verify, endorse or guarantee any opportunity, offer or representation made by one Member to another.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the Association nor the Institution, nor their office bearers, members, employees or volunteers, will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profit, opportunity, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, the Website or any Association service — whether the claim is founded in contract, tort or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such loss.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, the aggregate liability of the Association in respect of any claim will not exceed the amount of membership fee or event fee actually received by the Association from you in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Association, the Institution and their office bearers, members, employees and volunteers against any claim, demand, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Website or the alumni directory, your infringement of any third-party right, or your violation of any applicable law.
16. Suspension and termination of membership
The Association may, at its discretion and without prior notice, restrict, suspend or terminate your access to the Website, remove your listing from the alumni directory, or cancel your membership, where it has reason to believe that you have breached these Terms, the constitution or bye-laws of the Association, or any applicable law, or where your conduct is prejudicial to the interests or reputation of the Association or the Institution. Any such action is without prejudice to the Association’s other rights and remedies, and no refund of any fee or contribution will be payable. You may resign your membership at any time by written notice; a resignation does not entitle you to a refund.
17. Privacy
Personal data submitted to the Association is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. Please read it carefully.
18. Changes to these Terms
The Association may amend these Terms at any time. The amended Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date and will take effect from the date of posting. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Website or of Association services after an amendment constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of India. Subject to any provision of the constitution and bye-laws of the Association providing for internal resolution or arbitration, the courts and tribunals at Anand, Gujarat shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, the Website or the services of the Association.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force. A failure by the Association to enforce any right shall not be a waiver of that right.
